FAQ
Infinity Arts Foundation (IAF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bridging art, film, math and science through creative storytelling. Founded by filmmaker Matthew Brown and artist Melissa Herrington, IAF supports projects, films and residencies that explore the intersection of imagination and inquiry—where creativity meets discovery.
IAF’s core programs include:
Infinity Film Fund – Supporting films inspired by science, mathematics, and the human pursuit of knowledge.
Artist Residency Program – Offering time, space, and support for artists, writers, and filmmakers at ArtHouse on Julia in New Orleans.
Creative Labs & Public Events – Hosting talks, workshops, and exhibitions that connect the arts and sciences.
IAF believes that mathematics and science are not only foundations of knowledge but also profound sources of beauty and creativity. By supporting films and artworks that illuminate the poetry of equations, the structure of the cosmos, and the elegance of discovery, IAF aims to make these subjects more accessible, inspiring, and human. This commitment reflects our collaboration with leading mathematicians, scientists, and educators who share our belief that math and art belong to the same imaginative continuum.
Applications are open to artists, filmmakers, and interdisciplinary creators worldwide whose work engages with themes of art, science, innovation, or the natural world. Selection is based on artistic merit, originality, and alignment with IAF’s mission.
IAF is headquartered at ArtHouse on Julia, a restored 19th-century building in New Orleans’ historic Arts District. This creative campus serves as both a residency space, gallery and an incubator for artistic and scientific exchange.
IAF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported through individual donations, grants, and partnerships. Contributions directly fund residencies, creative programs, and film projects that merge art and science.
You can contribute through donations, sponsorships, or naming opportunities tied to the restoration of ArtHouse on Julia and its residency spaces. We also welcome partnerships with institutions and individuals who share our vision of fostering creativity across disciplines.

Residency lengths vary depending on the project and program. Most fellowships range from two weeks to three months, allowing residents the time and space needed for meaningful exploration and creation. Some special residencies or collaborations may extend beyond this timeframe based on project scope and curatorial review.
